Feedback from some happy customers

"I just wanted to thank you and Scott for accommodating Graseal for the summer. We thoroughly enjoyed being with you, it is a lovely tranquil spot, very rural (and, I have to say vastly preferable to the marinas further down harbour). We were stuck in Haslar for 3 nights prior to departure due to bad weather that weekend and it was quite uncomfortable on the visitors berth. Being out on your pontoon was no trouble and we rather liked the peace, but at the same time the cafe and the yard are buzzing with activity making for a great atmosphere - never mind the fees which we thought extremely reasonable. So, thank you again - if we are back on the South Coast we will certainly give you a call."

Ivan and Roni Hudson (S/Y Graseal) 2016

"Can I take this opportunity to congratulate you and the team on all the hard work you’ve been putting in to improve and maintain your business. Salt Cafe, work on the jetty and pontoons etc., are I’m sure just the visible tip of pretty big iceberg. I hope your efforts bring their just rewards."

Pete & Lindsey Blow - Sally, 2013 to 2016

"Since we moved to WicorMarine in 2007, my wife and I have found it a great place to moor and store our yacht. Scott and his staff have always been extremely kind and helpful, the rates are extremely competitive, and the overall service is excellent. I was sad a couple of years back to learn that my neighbour had moved away from Wicor. Imagine my surprise when he and his yacht returned in a few months, saying how mad he was to try somewhere else, as he realised how good it was at Wicor! "

Mike Wright & Family - Pluma, 2007 to present

"Having sailed my boat back from France I was unable (due to illness) to take the boat to the yard. My wife contacted Scott and it was quickly arranged to collect the boat on our behalf. Now that I have recovered and am able to work on the boat I have found the yard to be well run, friendly and Sarah in the office to be willing to help with a smile. The Salt cafe is a must to visit for coffee, lunch or a slice of the delicious Pecan pie. Have used boatyards from the Caribbean, USA, Australia and the UK this is one of the best."

Graham McCarty - Papaver, 2014 to present

"We all enjoy Wicor ... The moment we pass through the barrier into the yard we are on quality time and the unwinding experience can't be matched by the marina environments elsewhere around the Solent."

Duncan Hindley - Cardellino, 2008 to present

"My first acquaintance with Wicormarine was on my uncle’s 36’ Hillyard in 1968. I kept my first boat there from 1972 and my present boat has been there since I sailed her down from East Anglia in 1991.

I have found Scott and his team to be helpful and welcoming, the facilities meet my requirements and are regularly upgraded, and the moorings are well sheltered plus deep enough for my keel. Other benefits are the peaceful and pleasant surroundings, ample car parking, chandlery, café and undercover work benches/mast storage etc. I am content which is why I have been there so long."

James Bamford - Raffaella, 1972-1987 & 1991 to present

"Chalk me up for next year on the full package please as it has been a real pleasure having Pero Et at WicorMarine"

Andrew Bridge - Pero Et, 2013 to present

"...a big thanks to you and your team for all your help over the past few years. We'll miss the peace and quiet of the moorings, but when the time comes for us to get another boat, we'll most definitely be coming back to WicorMarine."

Matt Gayton - Escapade, 2011/14

"...thank you for all your support over the winter. Wicor is a fantastic place: were I to bring Silver Bear back to the Solent it would definitely be my first choice of home for her. Thank you for enduring my endless stream of daft questions, and providing me with so much helpful maintenance advice. And the range of delights on offer both in the cafe and in your amazingly well-stocked chandlery were greatly appreciated, too!"

David Emes - Silver Bear, 2013/14

"I also wanted to say how helpful Sarah has been today. I have been trying to source a specific type of dorade vent from Plastimo as well as a radar reflector and parts. Having not had a great deal of luck on the internet getting access to Plastimo Sarah has been able to arrange these to be ordered for me directly. What a great service to offer! It has certainly made my life much easier in trying to administer everything from London. Please can you thank her for me."

Charles Sargent - Totti Washington, 2007 to Present

"Then we found out about WicorMarine Yacht Haven ... you leave your boat on the deepwater pontoons in the fairway, and they pick it up with a work boat. Liftout is by a marvellous new boat mover. I found them highly professional, friendly and efficient, and the customers treat the place as a club. They’ve a café, toilets, showers, bbqs and chandlery, and they store around 150 boats over the winter."

Mike Arnold - Portsmouth Offshore Group, 2014

"You have a lovely marina with everything set up professionally and your team are exceptionally friendly, it made a very welcome change, thank you !"

Gill Lloyd - Amber, 2014

"Can I thank you on behalf of us both for an excellent stay with a magnificent view from our cockpit, and can I thank you personally for being prepared to put us back in the water on Saturday. Incidentally, we were both impressed by your patient training methods, and that is obviously reflected by the way that everyone is very helpful. Our thanks also to Rob for fitting us in, and for organising a seemingly Impossible metal part for our chart table chair, which operates on a gas strut principle to save space. The weather was very kind, the location perfect, and we hope that you will have us back at about the same time next year."

Graham Langford & Judy Skillington - Kusi-Y, 2014

"A quick note to say that Amoret has now been sold ... On behalf of myself, my brother and our respective families I would like to thank you and your staff for our time at WicorMarine. It was, unfortunately, far less than we had anticipated, but such is life.

It was very refreshing to be back in a small, boat-orientated yard where people acknowledge and help each other, an atmosphere which can only filter down from the top. Again many thanks to all of you and all the best for the future. For myself, WicorMarine will always be a fond memory."

Richard Goddard - Amoret (2010 to 2014)

"We would like to say how much we've appreciated being at WicorMarine during the past nine years. We've found the staff knowledgeable, reliable and helpful - both those employed by you and those recommended by you.

The area is lovely and unspoilt, and we shall miss our sailing - as well as the memorable sunsets overnight. If we do decide to get another boat, we would like to come back to WicorMarine."

Richard and Gilliane Sills - Miss Fidget (2005 to 2013)

"Great to be back afloat and on the mooring, and as quick and efficiently as I’m beginning to be accustomed to after being at Wicor now for a year.

I just wanted to thank you and everyone at WicorMarine for the fantastic experience while I’ve been working on Barcarole in the yard. You all couldn’t have been more helpful, accommodating and courteous , or patient with my repeatedly extended completion dates.

While I’ve been there I couldn’t help noticing the continuous improvements, thoughtfulness and attention to detail going on around the yard, from the owners undercover workshop, the decorating, the new and beautiful Yacht Haven signs, to the general tidiness and care.

I’ve also become a fan of the chandlery which nearly always had what I needed and at a reasonable price, saving me lots of time and nuisance.

Thank you also for recommending John Cutler to help solve the chaos of electrics on Barcarole. He came out and assessed the situation immediately and passed me on to Peter Holland who sorted it out without fuss and for a price less than the minimum I’d anticipated.

My memories of boatyards I worked for in my youth were of hubs for excellence and friendly communities where people helped each other out and shared enthusiasm. Having bought Barcarole last year I was looking for somewhere with that kind of atmosphere and WicorMarine certainly lives up to all my hopes. It’s a haven for people as much as for yachts."

Denis Burke - Barcarole (2012 to Present)

"The yard was where I spent some of the happiest times of my life and made a great many friends ... I fitted out my classic 25ft wooden Vertue at Wicormarine for a number of years and had no end of assistance from the yard. The boat performed admirably over a 12,000 mile voyage with no gear failure and the credit for this must go to the yard for their honest workmanship, advice and help.

I honestly recommend the yard for owners of classic yachts where a warm welcome and friendly camaraderie awaits with facilities and expertise second to none."

Matt Power - Chinita (1983 to 1994)

"We left Wicor in 2010 and spent a season in a large, well known Solent marina. This proved to be a very expensive exercise, and when we learnt that you had put in a number of new pontoons that could comfortably accommodate a boat of our size (nearly 15 metres and 20 tonnes) we decided to come back to Wicor. We have not been disappointed: super new pontoons, friendly service, great location on the river and excellent facilities. We have been here for two seasons now and are very happy customers."

Piers Covill - Caol Ila (2010 to Present)

"Just a quick word of thanks to Scott, and those working with him, for the very courteous treatment that we received during the usual somewhat fraught annual lift out.  Hopefully, if you are doing something similar next year, we would like to take advantage of it, and would almost certainly ask Rob to clean the entire hull this time, because he made such a good job of the keels.
Another attraction is that I gather that there can be a slight flexibility on dates, so saving our having to do battle with a force 8 round Selsey Bill, as happened on our way to you."

Graham Langford - Kusi-Y (2013)

"Thank for allowing me to have Mea Sterna out in your yard for the fortnight and thank you for the help you gave me. It was a most enjoyable stay and If you can do me the same deal next year I will be very tempted to come out again. I was very impressed both your lads but particularly the chap driving the boatlift. I mentioned to him that I liked the yard and that it was clean and tidy etc. His response was one of pride and ownership and the said that they do try to keep it all up together to keep the place working well."

Peter Hathway - Mea Sterna (2013)

"Thank you very much for forwarding on the photos. I must say the gesture is indicative of how friendly we have found everyone at Wicor."

Tim Golt - Moondance (2013 to Present)

"I have greatly enjoyed keeping Bubble at Wicor and always appreciated the help of your team and the friendly atmosphere of the boatyard."

Chris Tibbs - Bubble (2011 to 2013)

"Many thanks for the excellent service I have received over the years which has always been so professional."

Neil Collings - Eppi II (2009 to 2013)

"I think you provide an excellent facility on very good terms. I have been very pleased to be back with Wicormarine for 2012/13 (having originally bought my previous boat Hunky Dory from another of your satisfied customers, Tim Woolley.)"

Andrew Sabourin - Blue Belle (2012/2013)

"Thank you for looking after her so well over the last 9 years. It has been a pleasure to come down to Wicormarine to work on and sail the boat and I shall miss it. I don't rule out getting another boat and so you may hear from me again, but in the meantime, I wish you happiness and prosperity in your business."

Tim Bywell - Goodbye Mickey Mouse (2003 to 2012)

"A note to thank you for our enjoyable 5 years at Wicormarine. It was an excellent place to keep our boat, in the quieter reaches of Portsmouth harbour. We had the package deal which included a pontoon berth and haul-out onto the hard for the winter months, followed by a re-launch in the spring. It is a fantastic way to keep your boat ship-shape, enjoying the sailing season afloat and being able to carry out all the necessary jobs over the winter months without any time pressure. The yard itself has a great selection of friendly marine engineers, boat repair specialists and a chandlery which means there is no job that cannot be arranged conveniently. Also the staff were really helpful and friendly to us, which was much appreciated."

Alan Clark - Senja III (2007 to 2012)

"Our experience was the normal calm and efficient service amongst a great deal of extra activity."

Dave & Sue Ellis - Close Encounter (1999 to Present)

"First class service as always. Thanks very much."

Peter Stevens - Philosopher (2010 to Present)

"Thanks again for our stay. I think you have a really tidy business at Wicor, and the shop never failed to have those bits & pieces one needs at short notice."

John Turner - Poppy (2010/2011)

"We look forward to another great sailing season, and thank you for providing a great base for us!"

Dean Berry - Talisman (2004 to Present)

"Sadly, I will not be renewing with Wicormarine. This is not a reflection on the facilities or level of service which has been exemplary - and I really mean that. You run a super facility and have been very accomodating and helpful, and we have really enjoyed staying with you."

Piers Covill - Caol Ila (October 2010)

"As you know, we are leaving for warmer climes this season, not without regrets as we think you run a very well organised, efficient and friendly boatyard. We enjoy being there both in and out of season and have absolutely no complaints so don't be surprised if we come knocking on your door again for a mooring sometime in the future."

Graham Marchand - Allegra (2006 to 2011)

"We've really enjoyed our stay at Wicormarine - delightful place! Thanks for a wonderful stay!"

Andrew Gould - Blue Note (2007 to 2010)

"I have always been 100% happy with every aspect of Wicormarine...keep up the excellent work !"

Nick Entract - Fairweather (2001 to 2010)

"I have been delighted with the service that I have received during my time at Wicor and would not hesitate to recommend you."

Rod Petch - Sunshine Lady (2008 to 2010)

"As you know I have been at Wicor for many years, and the high standard of care and attention to customers’ needs has always been a very strong feature. I myself, and I know many other berth holders, are very appreciative of this continuing high standard of service."

Rob Stewart - Landroval (1980 to Present)

"We were on the boat yesterday and the peace and quiet and birdlife etc makes Wicor my first choice mooring not just because marinas are more expensive."

John Langham-Brown - Dabchick (1989 to Present)

"Many thanks for all your assistance, we loved that little haven of peace and tranquility that you have preserved at Wicor."

J & I Kilgallon - Curlew of Avon (1998 to 2007)

"Wicormarine has proved to be the boat yard that all others shoul aspire to emulate! I have really enjoyed my years at the yard where you and your team seem to take the view that your berth holders are people to be cherished. If my move west does not work out, I shall be back!"

Bill Vallis - Shereefa (2001 to 2007)
